Guidance notes to musicians who wish to play at a Frakture Concert. DRAFT 1/ Beta version July 2008.

INTRO
  • Read the following notes then fill in the Concerts Form .
  • Please note the Frakture Concerts Series is run by a small team some of whom will not know you!
  • Schedule: most bookings for Frakture Concerts work 3-6 months in advance.
  • Frakture delivered alternatives: Frakass Nights on the last Sunday of the month. [ view here] , advice notes [view here] . Apologies for yet more on-line forms: but this system in general works and delivers more results / gigs
MONEY MONEY: Fees.
  • There is very little money available for fees: by now you should be aware that this [free improvised music] is not a commercial activity: i.e. the audience does not pay your fee.
  • You may have a touring grant, Frakture may have funding available for you fee: sometimes a mixture of both.
  • Frakture currently does not use private money to subsidise your concert.
  • Funding for our concerts series varies.
  • Door gigs: Frakture does not do door gigs [ door gigs = door money split between the musicians], we will not go through the indignity or lack of grace of dividing very small door takings between a number of musicians. We agree a fee; this fee is usually larger than the amount you would receive via "door gigs".
  • Frakture are committed to maximising the fee for the musicians.
  • However if your group has a fixed policy regarding money; only playing for a fixed non-negoatiable fee. Please indicate this too.
  • Therefore when filling in the above mentioned Concerts Form: the sections regarding fees you should indicate you have a realistic understanding of what may be involved regarding fees. Please indicate that you have a touring grant if you have one.
  • Please indicate realistic overheads regarding travel and accommodation: if traveling home that night etc please include this.
Technical
matters
  • Tech Specs: please advise ASAP, don't ambush Frakture at the last moment with the costs of technical requirements: the sooner we know and can assess the better.
Travel &
Work Permits
  • If any member or musician is not a UK/EEC resident or legally resident in the UK/EEC please indicate this and what actions you are taking regarding work permits etc.
  • If you are travelling to the UK please indicate that this is a realistic application by providing evidence or plans regarding how you intend to travel to the UK; and how you travel within the UK once here; put simply are we part of a tour? If so lets us know the details
