SNAP! Workshops : What Happens Next ?
If you are new to free improvised music or are looking for
something different: what does attending SNAP offer next ?
- Live Performance: After attending SNAP there is the opportunity
to develop your interests further via the "live performances"
in public performances, Frakture offer three opportunities to
do this
- Splash Gigs : occasional batches of concerts organised by
Frakture specifically to promote local musicians
- Frakture Concerts : Concerts promoted by Frakture featuring
out-of-town national or international musicians, there are
occasional opportunities to play as the "opening or support
act" or to play with the visiting musicians themselves.
- Ensembles. Frakture runs two ensembles : The
Frakture Big Band and Half
the Sky.These two ensembles are opportunities for you to develop
your musical interests.
- Master Classes : Once or twice per year Frakture delivers
keynote workshops with highly regarded practitioners from within
the free improvised music genre, previous collaborations
have included, Simon H Fell, Maggie Nicols, Carlos Zingaro and
Eddie Prevost. This provides individual improviser an opportunity
to work closely with established players as an experience in itself
or to acquire new techniques and skills.
- Projects: another indeterminate phrase, from time to
time Frakture secures funding for collaboration with other organizations
to deliver and experience free improvisation in different contexts;
e.g. Colourscape, Musicolour, Cross Platform Collaborations with
dancers, painters, poets etc., Performance in unusual locations.
- Networking; the workshops offer an opportunity for participants
to pursue their own musical or social agenda as a result of meeting
like minded musicians etc. at the workshops.
- Design and Delivery: interested individuals may develop
their own interests and skills by becoming a workshop session
leader and design and deliver specific sessions that are of particular
interest to themselves and musicians present.
