Frakture: scheduling sessions and events using “doodle” web software.

Doodle helps scheduling meetings and other appointments. Doodle is simple, quick, free and requires no registration.

Frakture/SWIM, increasing use doodle to set up session, as it is very effective, works and maximises the numbers that eventually attend. This is the impact. More people turn up to rehearsals, workshops and splash gigs. So for now the dates for these sessions are all determined by “doodle”, and not by administrators.

The “Doodle” approach helps accommodate the theme of our age, we are all too busy being busy by inviting you to make a decision. The result is better attendances, a high sense of motivation or commitment by those who do, and occasionally events cancelled because we cant find the time to do what we want, because life gets in the way!

You can view an example provided by doodle here

Tips: 1

In order to take part in the doodle process to select a date you have to be on the relevant mailing list; e.g. workshop list, vocal play list, Frakture Big Band list. If you are not the list you will not be invited to participate in the poll to select the date. The invitations are sent by email, to individuals on the relevant mailing list.

SO GET ON THE LIST, IF YOU WANT TO SELECT THE DATE.

Tips: 2

On receipt of a “doodle” email from Frakture participate in the poll ASAP: otherwise you may forget or loose the email in your in-box. That is our advice.

Downside:

  • You do have to do the doodle quickly; we have to turn around the poll/voting/date selection quickly.
  • For workshops we currently we select a date, then the venue. This is contrary to our previous arrangements, regular dates (e.g. 1 st Monday of the month) and regular venues. So it’s a chop and change schedule, because that is what we vote for!
  • Cancellation: some events may be cancelled due to lack of interest, thus saving everyone time and energy. For example this has happened with some vocal play workshop sessions.
