Post facto description of programme that was generated in the course of the afternoon of the day of the presentation.

1.      Video shot by me during Ferber (Paris) Studio recording sessions in December 2001. Steve w Irene Aebi, George Lewis, Jean-Jacques Avenel and John Betsch. (c. 40mins)

2.      A reading by me of the piece ‘The Other Soprano Saxophonist’ by Peter Riley, published in November 2001 in ‘Six Poets: Views & Interviews (The Gig Documents Series, #2)’. This is a Canadian publication that may still be available from Peter Riley (Books) 27 Sturton Street, Cambridge CB1 2QG (Tel: 01223 576422).

3.      Parts from tracks 1, 2 & 3 from Incus CD41 Company 5, recorded in ICA, London on Thursday 26 May 1977. The collective personnel (on the first track) is Leo Smith, Maarten van Regteren Altena, Derek Bailey, Tristan Honsinger, Anthony Braxton, Steve Lacy, Evan Parker. The other two tracks played were SL/ AB duos.

4.      Four tracks from ‘Findings’ (CD01 of 2) w. trio improvisations by Steve, JJ and John Betsch.

5.      Two tracks (Webern, op.17; Monk, ‘Evidence’) from ‘Findings’ (CD02); solo Steve.

6.      Track 5, ‘Hocus-Pocus’, from Les Disques du Crepuscule [For PhilM = TWILIGHT! &, of course, Monk wrote ‘Crepuscule with Nellie’ (his wife)…] (Belgium), CD TWI683-2, rec. 851227+28 in the beautifully redolent acoustic of the church of Salve Mater, Lovenjoel, Flanders.
