Soundwalks: take you to undiscovered places
“When was the last time you went somewhere just to hear the sounds there? Whether experienced as private meditation or as collective silence SOUNDWALKS refresh your ears and reset your sensual awareness to where you are, live or work.........

Phil Morton writes, this will be an interesting development! the soundwalks deliver the landscape as performance but for tonight two walks artists Steve Lewis will provide interventions of his own choosing. I know many individuals are wary of the "soundwalk pitch": just drifting in a locality, the "landscape as performance" its all a bit much really. For them tonight we have the fascination prospect of potentially not knowing! who is the artists and who is that member of the public howling at the moon...

If you only do one soundwalk, here's your chance !!

  • VOCAL PLAY
    • dates set for Saturday 17th November & December 8th, 1.00pm - 3.00pm [link]
New venue city centre & and sociable venue: mello mello, slater street, prices dropped!
  • SNAP: out of it!
    • returns to The Cornerstone: next session is Monday November 12th and then Monday Dec 3rd.We declined the invitation to SNAP: out of it on bonfire night, Monday 5th November.
  • Here it is in writing: newspaper piece
    • SWIM/Frakture "newspaper piece" plus recording for the Vocal Play myspace: see here for details.... .This exhilarating piece can now be heard on the re-vamped vocal play page on myspace, There is room for maybe one more participant for future productions, including a Frakture 10 years birthday special, and the making of a Liverpool 2008 soap opera special...

one-two

  • Phil Morton will running very short -splash and dash- workshops on rhythm featuring John Stevens one-two pieces from search and reflect. Highly recommended: short and intense pieces, for which there is no take up! they remain highly recommended and.

    Phil writes,
one-two is an inclusive and heuristic approach to a mainstream concept of "time" in music without the use of paper or metronomes . My personal experience illuminates that it is also a useful tool for becoming more incisive and compelling in my improvisations rather than "dare I say it" in-decisive, sloppy & uncompelling. But that was me, you may discover other results from this very simple John Stevens exercie & direct approach; what Maggie Nichols refers to as "The Challenge of simplicity". more info here...

    or maybe improvisers can't count!
