Background

Since its formation in 1998 The Frakture Big Band has become an important part of Liverpool’s musical life, acting as a conduit for musical exchanges, a meeting point for musical experimenters and a living laboratory for the experimental minded.

Frakture’s starting point is free improvisation and thus it is so with the Frakture Big Band however from time to time it has turned its attention to compositions and other strategies too. The Frakture Big Band has worked with Maggie Nicols, Evan Parker, Phil Hargreaves projects: Disslocation Sermons & Chaos Concerto, Carlos Zingaro; Simon H Fell; Veryan Weston & Caroline Kraable, Eddie Prevost and recently Damo Suzuki.

The Frakture Big Band currently "re-invents” itself, its personnel specifically for each project and is curated or managed by Phil Morton & Adam Webster of Frakture.
