  • Steve Lewis : Playing the voice 26th May @ Toxteth TV 1.00- 3.00pm
    We are very excited to be presenting Steve Lewis's Playing the Voice for our May installment of Vocal Play. Steve has an impressive background in music, creative music practice and delivering workshops. The second Frakture concert way back in !997 featured Steve, as did the very impressive concert he recently organised for Frakture: Four Candles & Deep Cabaret featuring a string quartet and a trio of vocalists.   • SNAP2 : Music learnt from speech 23rd June @ St Brides 11.00am - 1.00pm £2.00
    SWIM deliver their successful SNAP: out of it workshops on the first Wednesday of the month at Hope University at Everton, The Cornerstone. SNAP2 is a new initiative for all musicians to participate in a creative workshops working with a session plan: this session led by Luisa Dawn D'Arte and Phil Morton will explore creating music with instruments and speech [ i.e. vocalisation that is not "singing" but based on every-day speech ]. A busy day as this also the date of the June Vocal Play session. It is part of a very busy June and July when SWIM/Frakture will be delivering a series weekly series of creative music workshops for musicians.the schedule can be found here

  • Future developments: include more days featuring important artists e.g. Maggie Nichols; Frankie Armstrong , Lauren Newton , a return of Phil Minton plus delivering sessions beyond the shores of Merseyside. Such a dynamic and exciting wish list will clearly be influenced by the availability of funding.

    • Our media page contain out publicity material for vocal play which you may observe; maybe forward to your friends or display to aid our advertising.
  • Feedback
    • Anne Marie Howard & Phil Morton who run Vocal Play are keen to hear what people want and feedback re delivery and presentation. We are remain confident there is an interest in the area of work we deliver in the Vocal Play workshops but it remain uncertain just in what form, when or how often to do Vocal Play: any thoughts let us now; for now email swim@frakture.org more on this in future emails.

    • The current Frakture.org web site has full information on Vocal Play; in the near future we will have the popular myspace.com site too: Interested in participating in a recording session for audio files for our myspace site? let us know...

  • Funding news.
    • After two years of generous funding from the culture company they recently declined to support SWIM:Frakture.org through to April 2008. So we currently move onwards without explicit funding support and reliant upon door income.
    • We do receive Funding from the PRS Foundation but this currently is for development and not content; which helps... Meanwhile we will be looking into other sources of support. Watch this space
  • Who's who
    • Vocal Play is delivered by SWIM: Sound Workshops in Music which is the education and participation department of Frakture.org
    • SWIM: is currently managed by Anne Marie Howard & Phil Morton
