Ge Suk Yeo - mezzosoprano voice : [ link ]

Ge-Suk's fascination for Italian and German opera brought her from Korea to Europe. There in Germany she studied opera music and developed her voice to a lyric dramatic soprano. In 1999 she started with contemporary and avant-garde music.
Since then Ge-Suk dived more and more into this kind of music and worked with various musicians. The results out of this work you can experience on this site. Ge-Suk also made hundreds of sound sketches, a kind of 'graphical notation'. This drawings help her to express ideas about sound and performance. A couple of this drawings you can view on this website, too.

Regarding Wuppertal as a town with one of the most important scenes of Freejazz and Improv Music in Europe he became a member of it soon. Conducting as soundpainting is a main interest in his musical activities. Already in 1992 he was included in the Improvising Orchestra of the "Documenta IX" at Kassel, organized by Jon Rose with the project title "Burned Documents - The Athletic Violin". Later on he joined the Butch Morris Workshop Orchestra several times. Now conducting has become also a part of his teaching activities.

Besides his musical ativities in several groups, about which his CD releases are giving information, he is also cooperating continuesly with artists from the dance field, as for instance with members and ex-members of the "Dance Theatre Pina Bausch", Wuppertal like Jean Sasportes, Geraldo Si and Chrystel Guillebeaud.

Christoph Irmer performed on festivals like "3. Art" Wuppertal, Europhonics Dortmund, Fundacion Miró Barcelona, Free Music Antwerpen, NYC Texaco Jazz Festival.
