Frakture: Liverpool launches a new monthly “new” music night.
Frakture, the Liverpool based organisation promoting free improvisation in music and associated art forms is to launch a new monthly music night, on the third Thursday of the month, at The Pilgrim venue, Pilgrim Street L1 9HB
For now, they are creatively titled: Pilgrim Nights
The opening season covering the months March to June 2010 will feature a range of formats Frakture have been developing since its conception in 1997. The Frakture Concerts format speaks for itself, but other nights may feature
- Frakass night, an electronica and noise night
- The Frakture Big Band, experimental music from a large ensemble
- Splash gigs, a networking session featuring planned and random groups performing freely improvised music drawn from the Frakture network of artists.
- AV Night: Audio - Video a mixture, mix up, mash up, of video, lighting effects, & sound & music
The venue helps provide a social setting to experimental music and, in addition to the bar, Frakture will seek to include video projections and other multi media presentations to add to the listeners’ experience.
Co-Director Phil Morton comments,
“This exciting development offers Frakture the chance to deliver a regular evening of new music to the Listener. Recently, while remaining active, Frakture has lost focus and drifted in my opinion. This regular slot provides a focus to our activities, and a regular date to put in our diaries.
Co-director Adam Webster adds
“ Great news to have this new monthly slot, but don’t forget we still welcome collaborations with other organisations and we will continue to develop our many projects. Coming soon is our partnership with The Bluecoat (Sonny Simmons; John Butcher gigs due soon) and there are Centrifuge gigs in Manchester, workshops delivered by SWIM: Sound workshops in music. A good, a busy year lies ahead for the Frakture team, musicians and artists”
Summing UP : Frakture Nights 2010, are a monthly series of events featuring free improvisation. The style and content of each monthly session may vary.
